Abstract	[The author] discusses a phenomenon, observed in all European countries, that after some decades of equal access of women and girls to the educational success of boys and of male adolescents seems to fall behind the results of girls. The author points out that this discussion neglects the fact that the advantages of females seem to be restricted to certain domains, and, in the discussion of possible causes, demonstrates that the so-called "boy problem" is obviously older than people think it is.
