Abstract | This paper is devoted to the post-revolutionary period in the development of Russian (Soviet) mathematics education. During the period between 1918 and 1931, the new government of the country strove to implement the most bold and radical plans and approaches in mathematics education that had been developed by reformers before the revolution or were borrowed from abroad. Already by the 1930s, these radical reforms were declared to have been leftist deviations and eradicated no less radically. The paper attempts to reconstruct what happened in 1918-1931 (based on surviving publications in periodicals of the period and archival materials) and to indicate directions for further research. |
