Abstract	In 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, the 17th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers was convened to deliberate the theme of "Towards and beyond global goals and targets", and to share Commonwealth perspectives on education and development. This edition assesses the progress since that major summit, and outlines priorities for education ministers and senior officials as they look forward to 18CCEM in 2012. The publication also contains: Case studies from around the Commonwealth on widening access to quality education; fresh approaches to the growing global demand for teacher education; innovations in Open Schooling and Open Educational resources; regional updates from Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Caribbean; and 54 education profiles of member countries.
