Abstract"To increasing extent, international students take part in university campus-life. The diversity that these students bring provides many benefits, and also potential challenges for institutions of higher education. The differences in values, norms and behaviours become apparent in various ways through communication styles, learning beliefs or work styles, However, international officers, lecturers and international students find themselves frequently confronted with questions, misunderstandings and failures. What may be typical for scholarly work in one culture (e.g. independent reflection, creativity, analytical approach), may be of second rank in another culture. This forces us to leave one-way roads and focus on intercultural processes of development in teaching, learning, and researching, in order to reach a new level of quality on campus. What makes this book special is the discussion of these issues in a multicultural setting. Scholarly perspectives from China, India, Africa, the Americas and Germany are parts of the tapestry. Authors share their theoretical insights, practical experiences, and developing 'tool boxes' in order to create perspectives for successful academic integration of international students."
