Abstract | Most of the programs for the prevention of violence focus on the promotion of social-emotional competences. So does the curriculum "Faustlos", which is one of the nationally and internationally most widely spread violence prevention programs. Faustlos specifically promotes empathy, impulse control and constructive anger management. The theoretically profound program is available in three age group-tailored versions for kindergartens, elementary and middle schools. A large number of evaluation studies prove the effectiveness of the program (promotion of social-emotional competences, reduction of violence). These effects, different "side effects" (e.g. promotion of verbal competences) and the impact of moderating factors (e.g. gender, motivation, support by principals) should be investigated more thoroughly in further studies.
