Abstract | Mental maps are individual and internalized conceptualizations of a given space or place, used in the Geography education both as a control instrument and as a research method. The main goal of this research was to identify the ways junior college students conceptualize Romania. My first hypothesis was that mental imprints are defined by geographical (mainly physical-geographical) knowledge. The oversized amount of toponimy in the Geography content leads to an underachievement in spatial knowledge, so my next hypothesis. Using the qualitative method of content-analysis I proved the validity of my hypothesis.(Orig.). |
