Abstract[The author] examines what recommendations for education policy and education could be derived from 'problem-oriented globalism', which is an International Relation (IR) approach that places world-scale threats and risks and their governance at the centre of IR theorizing and tries to explain how they are restructuring world policies. [The author] asks what kind of education policies could best promote the kind of education that would best contribute to global governance aimed at the alleviation of global problems. [The author's] analysis is based on the impression that education on global issues and relevant education policies do not perform as well as they could at present. In his article he presents seven recommendations for improvement that can be derived from problem-based globalism. [The author] notes that some inspiration for a fruitful expansion of the discourse might be gained by reversing the title 'Global Governance through Education' into 'Education/learning through Global Governance'. This would raise new questions such as 'how are educators and education policymakers preparing themselves for the monitoring of global problems and governance?' According to [the author], one possible source from which educators and education policy makers may find new ideas for improved learning in this regard is the study of international relations that places global problems at the centre of theory-building and research.
