Abstract | This summary presents the main findings from the PISA 2000 survey and draws upon results published between 2001-2003. Since the publication of the first PISA survey in 2001, the OECD has been analysing its results, and their implications for public policy. This is a summary of the key findings. ... Such analysis is essential to meeting the objectives of PISA, which was designed not as an educational Olympics, but as a tool to help countries to improve educational outcomes against international standards. The acquisition of knowledge and skills can be influenced by students' individual characteristics, by features of their schools, and by the structure of their education systems. (DIPF/Orig.). |
