Abstract	This paper describes a part of the research project "social adaptation and integration on the work market of graduates" ... which investigates the relation between the education acquired at the university and the possibility of finding a job related to the university studies done, as well as the professional competences developed during and after the university studies. This is used for institutional assessment of universities, within a general scheme of improvement of quality standards. The paper reports on the theoretical framework, the approach to the subject, as well as the aims and methods used, and the analysis of the results obtained. A descriptive study was conducted running questionnaires on graduates of seven different studies and three successive years of each. The analysis of the data takes into consideration the graduates' professional ability and any kind of postgraduate studies, and their relation to the process of social adaptation and integration in the work market.
