Abstract | Some of the models used to monitor writing development are inappropriate because they are not truly developmental; others are too cumbersome to be practical for classroom use. Three developmental scales which assess [ideas and their development, awareness of audience and use of language] are applied longitudinally to a fairly homogenous sample of adolescents. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of findings indicate that the scales will have value in assessing students of varied abilities and guiding teaching at levels other than mid-secondary.(DIPF/orig.) |
