| Abstract | On 13 May 2014 the European Union's court of justice deemed that Google had to delete "inadequate, irrelevant or no longer relevant data from its search results, if this should be requested by a member of the public". The test case privacy ruling was brought to the court by a Spanish man whose house had been auctioned in 1998 to cover his social security debts. He argued that, after the dept issue had been solved, his name should no longer appear in this connection when he was searched on Google. The examination text can be used to conclude a series of lessons dealing with the World Wide Web, a topic with which the students are of course familiar, but which also frequently demands more thought and reflection than a number of people are prepared to invest. |
