Abstract | This paper shows the dynamics of interaction between girls (13-16 years old) of educationally deprived milieus and top-class football players, who have high levels of education, as their coaches. The girls take part in a football project offered in an extra-curricular programme of a school of basic secondary education ("Hauptschule"). The interactions in the gymnasium were analysed on the silent level of practical logic of gestures and body techniques (video-data). Secondly, interviews were carried out, the results of which corresponded with the results of the analysis of the video material. The lack of fit between the girls and the coaches is connected with a struggle for recognition of their own expectations, ideas and actions on both sides. This struggle could be understood as an expression of their milieu-related habitus, which opens up different chances and opportunities, which shows that positive identity indicates other means and resources. The results from the study in view of the interaction-practices between educator and students, can be interpreted as an example of the interactional mechanism by which the structure of inequality in school is generated, because this mechanism also decides whether a school career is successful or not.
