Abstract	A striking aspect of children's cognition is that it is not isolated from its milieu but rather is informed and enhanced by the child's social context. This volume examines several [...] aspects of cognitive development that relate to this phenomenon. The volume starts with a comparative look at how human learning compares to learning in our closest relatives, non-human primates. The remaining articles examine a suite of issues that relate to context and culture, including how and when children learn from testimony of others; imagination, pretense, and creativity; and sociocultural variation in learning.
