[...] Values, the transmission of values, the role of the teacher in a democratic society and implementation of Citizenship Education into education and teaching [are discussed in] Rebeca Soler Costas article. Sylvia Veiakova re-examines the way listening is studied and taught in foreign language education and highlights the importance of focusing on the collaborative and transformative dimension of the skill (active listening) as the key to learning, mutual understanding, and success in all spheres of life. Rudy Sterck briefs about a representative Comenius project dealing with the European Dimension from the Belgian perspective and the background of three different official languages, different cultures and a challenging educational system. Tom de Boer describes his main ideas about how pupils can be included into daily school life with the eyes of a progressive educator - based on Peter Petersen's theory and practice in teaching. In his article, Walter Hövel describes daily school life based on the ideas of the progressive educator Celestin Freinet and a humanistic, democratic view of the world where children's rights are respected in school by integrating them into decision making and paying attention to their responsibilities. In her brief description Sue Attard describes the research concerning the approaches aimed at increasing the participation of children and teachers in making decisions about their own learning.
