Access and Licenses for the German Education Index

The unlimited use of the German Education Index is possible in most networks in the higher education institutions in Germany as they have usually acquired a network licence. Hence, members of those institutions can search the database free of charge. In case a request to enter your authorisation code occurs when accessing the database, you would need to pay for an individual subscription.

It is possible to research an unlimited number of references, including abstracts / descriptions, during a subscription period. You can access information on the availability of documents from the detailed record. This information includes:

• the URL address of an electronic text, either direct or via the digital library (EZB),
• ordering the document by means of a document delivery service (SUBITO, British Library), these orders are charged separately,
• ordering an article or excerpt from a monograph by distance loan,
• references on the availability in libraries by means of a joint catalogue.

Further, it is possible to transfer selected references from the database into other programmes for administrating literature.
